What a chauffeur has to meet in Washington

If your company vets ground transportation vendors, the state sets a useful baseline. Under Department of Licensing rules, a limousine chauffeur must be at least 21, hold a valid Washington driver license, pass a Washington State Patrol background check, keep a medical certificate renewed every two years, take part in random drug testing and complete a National Safety Council defensive driving course. Carriers must file proof of at least $1,050,000 in combined single-limit liability insurance. Booking for someone else

Assistants and travel coordinators should include the traveler’s name and mobile number, the flight number or pickup address, and building or entrance details for each stop. On large campuses that last detail matters most.

According to WSDOT, the 14-mile evening commute from Redmond to Seattle on SR 520 averaged 33 minutes in 2024, and took 56 minutes to arrive on time on 95 percent of trips. The morning commute north on I-405 from Tukwila to Bellevue averaged 40 minutes. SR 520 is tolled in both directions at rates that change by time of day; I-90 is not tolled. Leave more room between an Eastside meeting and a downtown one in the late afternoon than at midday.

Seattle Convention Center

The Seattle Convention Center has two downtown buildings a block apart: Arch at 705 Pike Street and Summit at 900 Pine Street. Per the center, the private-vehicle drop-off for Arch is at 725 Pike, and Summit’s is on 9th Avenue between Pine Street and Olive Way. Note which building each session or booth is in, so pickups are set for the right door.

Meydenbauer Center, Bellevue

Bellevue’s convention center, Meydenbauer Center, is at 11100 NE 6th Street. Group shuttles can link attendee hotels, the venue and evening dinners on either side of the lake.

Microsoft’s headquarters in Redmond covers 500 acres and more than 125 buildings, so a building number matters as much as the street address. T-Mobile’s headquarters is in Bellevue at 12920 SE 38th Street.
