Tacoma to SEA and Seattle on I-5

Nearly every trip north starts on I-5; I-705 links downtown Tacoma and the Tacoma Dome area to the freeway. For the airport, the route leaves I-5 at SR 518 in Tukwila, which carries traffic into Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. From downtown Tacoma that typically takes 30 to 45 minutes outside peak hours. Every SEA arrival is flight-tracked, so an early landing or a delay moves the pickup, and meet-and-greet inside baggage claim is available on request. The local’s guide to SEA pickups walks through the terminal.

Downtown Seattle is farther up the same freeway: typically 40 to 55 minutes outside peak hours. Commute hours are another matter. WSDOT’s commute data show the evening drive south on I-5 from Seattle to Federal Way averaging about twice its posted-speed time, and traffic varies day to day. For a flight or a first pitch, plan the pickup backward from the time you need to arrive.

Where Tacoma Pickups Happen

Downtown Tacoma puts several hotels and event spaces within a few blocks. Hotel Murano, at 1320 Broadway, hosts weddings and receptions for up to 500 guests. McMenamins Elks Temple, at 565 Broadway, is a hotel with its own concert and event hall, the Spanish Ballroom. The Greater Tacoma Convention Center is at 1500 Commerce Street, and the University of Washington Tacoma campus is at 1900 Commerce. The Chihuly Bridge of Glass crosses from Pacific Avenue to the Museum of Glass on the Thea Foss Waterway.

Beyond downtown, pickup points include Cheney Stadium, home of the Tacoma Rainiers, at 2502 S. Tyler Street; Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium at 5400 N. Pearl Street; and University of Puget Sound at 1500 N. Warner Street. For a home pickup anywhere in Pierce County, give the full address and any gate or building instructions.

Tacoma Dome Nights

The Tacoma Dome, at 2727 East D Street, is the largest indoor venue in Washington, with room for up to 21,000. Big shows change the streets around it. The Dome’s directions page advises against I-5 Exit 133, which is generally closed for high-volume events, and its transportation page sends rideshare drop-offs and pickups to zones on Brotman Way and Wiley Avenue, with no stopping in the D Street loading zone on event days. Parking is limited and sells out for large events.

A chauffeured vehicle takes parking out of the evening and gives the group one agreed meeting point after the encore. The SUV limousine seats up to 14 for a birthday or bachelorette group; the party bus takes up to 30. For shows and games in Seattle, you get curb pickup and drop-off at Lumen Field, Climate Pledge Arena and T-Mobile Park; see game and concert transportation.

Weddings, Proms and Business Travel

  • Weddings. A stretch limousine seats up to 10 for the wedding party between the getting-ready location, ceremony and a downtown reception; the party bus moves guests. One point of contact on our team knows the full-day plan. See wedding limo service.
  • Prom and graduation. Safe, supervised transportation with flexible packages for group bookings, through our prom and graduation limo service.
  • Conventions and client visits. The executive sedan carries up to three between SEA and a downtown hotel; an Executive Sprinter van seats up to 12 with luggage room for a team. Multi-stop days that continue to Renton or Seattle fall under corporate car service.

FAQ

Tacoma Limo Questions

How early should I leave Tacoma for a flight out of SEA?

Start from your flight time, add the time you want at the terminal, then the drive: typically 30 to 45 minutes outside peak hours, longer in commute traffic. Reservations can be requested online 24 hours, and dispatch is staffed 5 AM to 1 AM daily.

Where will the chauffeur meet us after a Tacoma Dome show?

Agree on the spot before you go in. The Dome directs rideshare pickups to Brotman Way and Wiley Avenue and keeps the D Street loading zone clear on event days, and Exit 133 off I-5 is generally closed for big events.

Can we ride from Tacoma to a game at Lumen Field or T-Mobile Park?

Yes. Game and concert trips include curb pickup and drop-off at Lumen Field, Climate Pledge Arena and T-Mobile Park. Allow typically 40 to 55 minutes from Tacoma outside peak hours, more on a weekday evening.

Which vehicle fits a group of 20 going to a Tacoma wedding?

The party bus seats up to 30. If the wedding party travels separately, add a stretch limousine for up to 10.
